It’s FREE Postcard Friday. Who’s got that summer time Friday Feeling?

I started putting a few Mr Smileyman postcards in a little box outside my house about a month ago (April 2020). It was right in the midst of lockdown in the UK. It was a tough time for everyone and I wanted to try and give something back to my local community, help lift some spirits and spread a little joy.

It’s continued since then and in the past month over 250 postcards have been collected. It’s been great to see folks picking them up, bringing smiles to young and old. It makes me smile too, just imagining where all these postcards are now living and what messages they may have written on them.

I try to vary the postcard designs I put out ready for the weekend to include different Smileyman styles along with some of my 100 Beach Photos. It’s actually a nice challenge to have to think about what new designs I can make. It inspired me to create my Thank You NHS and Key Workers designs which I have since made available as a T-Shirt too.

Last weekend I had a bumper giveaway with the bank holiday, over 50 cards taken. Woohoo. I wasn’t quite prepared for that happening all at once though and I was all out of postcards by the Sunday. So I’ve been a bit busy this week making sure I (hopefully) have enough for this weekend.

Now I’m fully restocked with some absolute beauties. A range of #mrsmileyman and #100beachphotos cards and a flavour of some of new prints I’m working on that will soon to be going up on my shop.

If you’re local to Whitley Bay, Tynemouth, Cullercoats or North Shields or driving past on way to the beach, please pop by and pick one up. I’m just up the road from The Border Terrior pub. You can find me on Google Maps.
